Founded in Melbourne, Australia in 2025, we began with a need for solar-powered outdoor lighting that did not compromise on aesthetics. Our vision reaches further: to make calm a way of living, creating environments where light and space work in quiet harmony.

The name Solbina reflects the Japandi philosophy we embrace. Sol refers to solar power, at the roots of our lighting approach, while also symbolizing soul — the life each piece carries

Japanese Roots

Bi and Na are both Japanese words: Bi means beauty, representing the timeless and elegant design of our lights, while Na is used to add warmth and approachability, giving the name an emotional nuance.

The “soul” element is a direct reference to animism in Japanese culture, which holds that all objects, including inanimate ones, possess a spirit or energy.

More Than Lighting
